Fans Vs. Shippers

Fans:

- Appreciate a series, book, movie, or game for what it is- exactly how it is.

- Argue about timelines, deeper meanings, potential for the future within the context of a series, book, movie, or game.

- Appreciate the characters for the impact they have on the story and the content of their character.

- Quietly support the series, book, movie, or game by purchasing product, drawing scenes from the series, and intelligent inquiry to the creator.

- Are responsible for the success of a series.

- Often remain fans for their lifetime and revisit the series, book, movie, or game.

- Introduce new fans by explaining the highlights of the content.

- Appreciate the canon romance and love interests.

- Try to ignore the shippers.

Shippers:

- Fanfic the hell out of the series, book, movie, or game and declare that their material is superior to or on par with the original.

- Argue about who should be having sex with who, argue about who’s on top and who’s on bottom, and argue about which ship should be canon.

- Appreciate the characters for their sex appeal.

- Spam the original writers with their fanfics or demanding that the actors appease them in some way.

- Are responsible for things like Fifty Shades of Gray, Final Fantasy X-2, and the apprehension of the Supernatural actors towards their fans.

- Remain ‘fans’ only until the next trend comes along in most cases.

- Are responsible for apprehension of newcomers into a series, book, movie, or game or the rejection of former fans.

- HATES the canon romance and love interest because 9 out of 10 times it “gets in the way” of their ship. Especially concerning female love interests towards male characters. (Looking at you Gundam wing fans.)

- Attack and flame the fans…and each other.
