Just a work in progress but I’m very happy with how it’s coming out so far. I hated the sketch so I spent some time fixing it and now I’m inking. I think I’m going to try inking the background as well, something new for my style as I tend to try (key word. Try.) to do a more painterly thing.
This is very much an artist’s take on Puddleglum. If you aren’t familiar with him, he’s an exceedingly pessimistic Marshwiggle from The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair. He’s described as being all arms and legs with webbed feet and hands. I decided to add a few touches of my own to make him look less human and more amphibian…ish. Long arms, long neck, long ears, long hair, long face. There are so few illustrations of him and while mine doesn’t look like any of them, this is kind of close to what I saw when I read the books as a kid.
